ATM Placement Essential for Growing Numbers of Holiday Shoppers Using Cash!

Category: Recent Articles  |  Permalink

Published: Monday, December 12, 2011

With the holiday shopping season in full force, shoppers are ditching the credit cards to avoid high interest fees and the post holiday credit hangover. As belts tighten and the economy continues to find its momentum, more holiday shoppers plan to use cash for their holiday shopping purchases.

Cash will be a big part of this holiday seasons purchases, and consumers will need to get their cash from ATMs. But ATMs cannot just be placed in any location. For the right locations, make sure to hire an ATM placement service so they are placed in a high-quality location that will bring in fees.

According to a survey by Triton Digital, 52 percent of shoppers will use cash to pay for gifts this holiday season. Looking to avoid credit card debt, the need for ATMs will be high, making ATM placement service an essential part of this holiday season.

The preference for cash is strong, as the lowest percentage of shoppers over a 27-year period reported using credit cards over the Thanksgiving weekend. According to the credit bureau TransUnion, general credit card use fell 11 percent in the third quarter of 2011 compared to last year.

More than 15 million Americans lost their credit cards due to credit card regulations, and where credit card use drops, the use of cash rises. More and more consumers will need to use ATMs to get their cash to buy holiday gifts, so having your ATMs placed in the marketplace makes sense – and dollars.

But to get ATMs placed in the right locations, you will need the help of an ATM placement service. An ATM in a high traffic location can bring in a lot of fee income. But, if they are not being used because they are not placed in the right spot, do not expect a high profit margin.

New ADA Guidelines Impact Locations for ATM Machines

Category: Recent Articles  |  Permalink

Published: Wednesday, November 16, 2011

If you are looking to use your business as a location for ATMs, then make sure that your ATM locations comply with new federal requirements.

On top of various requirements for the visually impaired, some of the new guidelines mandated by the Americans with Disabilities Act relate to the size of the location itself. This makes finding ATM locations trickier, so make sure to hire an ATM placement service that specializes in finding ADA-compliant high-traffic locations.

The usable parts for ATMs cannot exceed 48 inches in height and cannot be lower than 15 inches above the ground. This requirement aims to increase access to those confined to wheelchairs.

Another requirement that owners of ATM locations must abide by focuses on the area adjacent to the machine. An ATM must have a clear and accessible path either in a parallel or forward approach and its size must be a minimum of 30 inches by 48 inches.

ATMs are everywhere. Liquor stores, amusement parks, gas stations, dance clubs and bars. If you are a business owner, you can either buy or lease an ATM for your business. Just make sure your ATM locations will meet the ADA space requirements. If you own ATMs, consult an ATM placement service to obtain the best high-traffic locations.

There are also a host of other requirements ATMs must abide by: minimum sizes for the numbers and characters on the display screen, a minimum size for the display screen, Braille assistance and voice guidance mechanisms. Whatever type of business you have, just make sure that the ATM you lease or buy is compliant.

While credit and debit cards are popular, cash is not going away. Some transactions will always require cash payment. So, if you have ATMs ready to be placed but are just missing high-traffic locations do yourself a favor and hire an ATM locating company. Before you know it, the ATM you lease or buy will bring you sizable profits.

Are you considering the possibilities of owning your own vending machine business?  As the old saying goes, "Knowledge is power."  The more you know about a business or product, the better equipped you are to make the right decision.  A well-informed decision gives you the confidence and assurance you'll need when venturing into something new.  As with any business opportunity, it is important to understand the trends so that you can ride the wave of the future and prosper.  Reading this article will boost your vending knowledge with a brief explanation of the past, present and future of vending.

The Past -

The vending machine business began in the first-century with the work of a mathematician and engineer named Hero of Alexandria. In the early 1880s, London introduced the first modern coin-operated vending machines.  The U.S. joined the ranks in 1888 with gum machines on New York City train platforms. The evolution of vending continued with numerous convenience items and food.  Old photos of vending machines from all over the world display a wide variety of commodities, including food items such as soups, sandwiches, hot meals, fruit and chocolate, of course, and drinks ranged from milk to whiskey.  Books, pantyhose, perfume, and even airline insurance were sold in these old-fashioned vending machines.

The Present -

Since its inception, the vending machine business has continuously evolved to meet consumer demands. Today's vending machines are full of an even greater variety of items.  Coin-operated machines are still in use for many small items, such as candy, snacks and soda.  Following the current technological trends, credit card payment has now changed the face of traditional vending.

The Future -

Vending machines are the way of the future and as a result, vending machine business opportunities are ever-expanding.  Take a look at your local store and you'll see how the electronic sale has transformed purchases of all kinds.  From kiosks at the airport to the grocery store, there are a plethora of possibilities for the opportunist.  Vending machines of the future are much like those now commonplace kiosks.  With touch screens and electronic payment, these high-tech computerized stores will offer products to the next generation in packaging that sells.  Aside from the new line of non-food products including: vacations, tech gadgets, cosmetics, etc., convenience food lines have evolved to offer pizzas, ramen noodles, cotton candy and much more. The new vending machines will offer additional features such as: purchasing multiple items at once, smart phone payment and even recycling credit.

Here are just a few of the groundbreakers in vending:

Pepsi has two new vending machines: Pepsi Recycle Machine which allows you to build redeemable points for recycling and Pepsi Touch connects people with gifting and video messaging.

Coke has its touch screen, Coke Touch, which it jingles when you make a purchase.

Kraft Foods will offer a digital close up of the nutritional value of its items.

2bU machines are energy efficient and allow users to search for organic, vegan, gluten-free, and Kosher snacks.

Hope your travel through the timeline of vending opened your eyes to the opportunities in the vending machine business.  Taking the time to read articles like this one will help build your knowledgebase of vending and lay a good foundation for building your future vending machine business.

Tips For Soda and Snack Vending Machine Placement

Category: Recent Articles  |  Permalink

Published: Tuesday, October 18, 2011

Placing soda and snack vending machines may seem a bit more complicated then the smaller coin-operated candy machines, but with the right information and association you can break into vending these larger, electrical options.  This article contains some several tips and useful information to get you started.

When selecting your location, consider the following:

1. Traffic

When placing soda and snack machines, be sure to consider the employee or customer traffic of the location.  Does the location have enough employees or customers to make it profitable?  Take note of the wait time for the customer.  A

longer wait time will certainly benefit your sales.  If you are considering placing a soda machine in a hotel or motel, make sure it has at least 20 rooms.  For a business location, a good starting recommendation would be 30 employees minimum for soda machines and minimum for snack machines.  If the employee count does not meet the minimum, be sure there is a heavy line of consumer traffic and or contractors, customers delivery people etc.  This makes the location within the location an important point to consider.

2. Location within the location

Take into account where you plan to, or are permitted to place your soda or snack vending machine.  Is it in an employee break room which offers no customer traffic?  Or, is it in a place where both employees and customers have visibility and access? Often in industrial type vending locations the dock area where all of the work activity is being performed is best.

Also, consider the dimensions of the location within the location.  Is there enough clearance for your machine?  A standard soda vending machine measures 72"H x 39"W x 33"D.  If the machine is going to be placed in an enclosure, allowance should be made at 80"H x 45"W x 40"D. Remember the following space requirements: the door opening, the plugs and cords at the back of the machine and the compressor's need for air circulation.

You will need access to electrical outlets that offer enough power supply for your specific vending machines. Soda vending machines typically run on 115 volts at 10.5 amps, used for both lighting and refrigeration.  Most commercial grade three prong outlets are sufficient to power an electrical vending machine.  Note: Power consumption may vary, however, due to indoor or outdoor placement.

3. Product

The products you place in your soda and snack machines are very important to your success at your chosen location. What type of location or business is it? What products or services do they offer? What type of consumer traffic do they get? Considering these demographics will help you select the best products for each location you want to place.

When vending soda, decide whether you want your machines to carry 12oz cans or 20oz bottles.  Also, consider providing alternatives to soda such as vitamin water, energy drinks, juices, Gatorade and teas. The location will again determine the type of drinks that will be most desirable.

Placing snack machines has a few additional considerations. Snacks have a much shorter shelf life then soda, so choosing the right snacks will encourage product movement and minimize product loss (i.e. profit loss) due to spoilage. Snack vending works well in larger offices or places with very heavy traffic.  The bulk of vending revenue is derived from the soda machine, so consider its placement first, adding a snack machine where foreseen profitable.

Placing soda and snack vending machines requires a bit more than the average coin-operated machines, but the product selling point is higher, lending to a greater profitability if rightly placed.  If you are considering soda and snack vending, but need a jump start for placement, consider contacting a vending locator.

Vending Machine Locations Keep You Running, Reading and Stocked with Gold!

Category: Recent Articles  |  Permalink

Published: Tuesday, October 11, 2011

Some vending machine locations have machines selling the weirdest things. From shoes, books and bars of gold, there is a vending machine for almost everything. Even vintage Corvettes!

Whether you are selling traditional or quirky items, the key to obtaining the best vending machine locations is by hiring a vending machine locator. Vending machines placement works best in front of high-traffic locations where people assemble, and a vending machine locator not only knows where those locations can be found, but knows the vending industry, too.

Vending machine items run the gamut from the luxurious to the literary. Some items include:

-          Gold vending machines: Originally located in Abu Dhabi at Emirates Palace Hotel, Gold to Go vending machines were a hit in Europe before first hitting the U.S. in Boca Raton, Florida mall. They hold up to $150,000 in gold at a time, and with an ATM card or cash you can buy real gold. The machines update the price every 10 minutes to reflect the going rate, and are monitored by an armed guard.

-          Say you are in London and need a break from your stiff work shoes or painful high heels.  Not to worry. Japanese shoe company Onitsuka Tiger located a vending machine selling sneakers in London. For girls having a night out on the town in London wanting to ditch their stilettos, shoe vending machines in town offer comfortable ballet flats. The vending machine locations are conveniently inside clubs and restaurants.

-          If you are itching for a nice read, then a book vending machine is right for you. The Expresso book machine at Blackwells bookstore in London currently offers 400,000 titles and is hoping to expand their catalog to a cool million. Make a payment and the machine prints, cuts and binds a book for you while you wait. The machine costs $175,000 and it sells out-of-print books, so it is pretty popular.

-          If your kid is having a birthday party and wants balloons, a balloon vending machine may be right for the party. Some balloons come with a happy face and string, and can be filled with helium.

-          If you are all about the finer things in life, then these luxury vending machines are right for you. At the Mondrian hotel in South Beach, Miami, vending machines sell items costing anywhere from $10 to $1.2 million. Not just simple everyday items like toothbrushes and toothpaste, but cars like Bentleys, Rolls Royces and a vintage 1965 Corvette. You just swipe a credit card, and items like cars, sunglasses, hotel stays and gold-plated handcuffs are available for sale.

Every vending machine sells something different. Whether you are a gold collector, bookworm or high-roller, there is a vending machine for you. Whatever you are selling with your vending machines, make the right decision and hire a vending machine locator to get the best locations.
